Billy Graham Prayer Line Volunteer Application

I have read and been provided a copy of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Statement of Faith.

I, the undersigned adult (“Volunteer”), in consideration of the volunteer service opportunity to be provided by Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), do freely, voluntarily, and after reading carefully, execute this Volunteer Agreement and Release. By doing so, I accept, acknowledge, and agree as follows:

Statement of Faith: I have read and agree with BGEA’s Statement of Faith.

Christian Conduct: I represent to BGEA that the Lord Jesus Christ is my personal Savior, which means that I am a witness about Him to others at all times through my words and conduct, including during my service as a volunteer with BGEA. I also acknowledge that being permitted to perform volunteer service with BGEA is conditioned upon my agreement with BGEA's Mission Statement and Statement of Faith and my ongoing demonstration of appropriate conduct that is consistent with those statements, scriptural teachings and principles, and with BGEA's policies, procedures, and expectations. I represent and warrant that I have no criminal background involving violence, sexual misconduct, or fraud, and agree to notify BGEA if there is any change in such status or if I am charged in a criminal matter of any kind. Either BGEA or I may terminate my volunteer role at any time for any or no reason.

Selection of Volunteer Applicants: I acknowledge and agree that the selection of volunteers is at BGEA’s sole discretion.

Submission of True Information: I hereby certify that all of the information I provide for the purpose of applying for a volunteer role, or continuing to serve in a volunteer role, is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that any false statements may end consideration of my volunteer status by BGEA, or may be cause for ending my volunteer application with BGEA.

Permission for Verification: I acknowledge that BGEA may, during consideration of my volunteer application or at any time while I am providing volunteer services to BGEA, verify information within my volunteer application, résumé, or other related documents. The results of this verification process may be used to determine my eligibility for initial or continued volunteer services with BGEA. I acknowledge that all results will be kept confidential and will only be used to assess eligibility or volunteer services or as required by law.

Background Check, References and Interview: I understand and acknowledge that I may be asked to participate in certain screening including submitting to a criminal background check, providing references, and participating in an interview. I authorize the people I list as my references to provide BGEA any and all information concerning my previous employment/relationship and any pertinent information that they may have. Further, I release all parties from any and all liability for any damage that may result from the use of such information by BGEA.

Commitment: I will endeavor to serve in the volunteer role for at least six months, and I will follow all of BGEA’s ministry descriptions and expectations for my volunteer role.

Confidentiality and Personal Information Protection: If I am exposed to what BGEA may consider to be confidential information, including caller information, I agree that such confidential information shall remain BGEA's property at all times and I agree that I will not directly or indirectly, in any way, reveal, report, publish, disclose, transfer or otherwise use any of the confidential information except as specifically authorized by BGEA. Further, I will not give out any of my personal contact information to those I am talking to on the Billy Graham Prayer Line. I will not save or use the personal contact information of callers after submitting my Online Call Report Forms.

Training and Coaching: I understand that I am responsible for reading and staying informed on all changes to policies, procedures and scripts related to my volunteer service. I understand that periodically throughout my time as a volunteer, I may receive feedback and coaching on how I am fulfilling my role.

Monitoring: Because volunteering with BGEA may require significant telephone contact with the public, I understand that the monitoring of telephone conversations helps to ensure that communications with callers are accurate and consistent with BGEA’s ministry interests. I further understand that as a condition of my volunteering with BGEA any and all of my conversations and activity using BGEA-provided telephone systems and technology can be monitored, recorded, or otherwise listened to. Accordingly, I acknowledge that I have no expectation of privacy in connection with the use of BGEA-provided telephone systems and technology including applications that transmit, receive, or store information. I hereby consent to BGEA and its agents monitoring, recording, listening to, or otherwise using my conversations and activity on BGEA-provided telephone systems and technology for ministry purposes.

Ministry Photographs, Videos, and Media: I acknowledge and agree that, while volunteering with BGEA, my activities may be photographed or videotaped. I hereby consent to the unlimited use by BGEA and/or its authorized representative of photographs or videos in which I appear, without further compensation, and I acknowledge and agree that I have no ownership rights in or to those photographs or videos. I hereby release BGEA, its agents and assignees from any claims that I may have relating to any photographs or videos, including without limitation, any claim arising under the right of publicity, right of privacy, defamation and/or copyright infringement. I understand that any works I create, or testimonials I provide, while serving as a volunteer belong to BGEA, including title, ownership and copyright of those works.

Tax Deductibility of Expenses: If approved for volunteer service with BGEA, expenses I incur related to my volunteer duties may be tax deductible. I understand that it is my sole responsibility to determine the deductibility of any particular expense.

Commitment to the Gospel: I agree to share only the basic Gospel of Jesus Christ with callers during my volunteer service, and that I will attempt to meet the expressed spiritual needs of callers in light of the Scriptures and BGEA’s Statement of Faith. I further understand and agree that I am not to advocate any doctrines other than Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and that I am not to proselytize for my church or denomination. I will not represent any other ministry or personal interest while volunteering.

Volunteer Status/Insurance: I understand and acknowledge that any service performed is as a volunteer, not an employee, of BGEA. I am not entitled to employee or other benefits from BGEA such as health or accident insurance, workers compensation, or compensation for duties performed or hours worked. I understand it is my responsibility to provide health, disability, liability or accident insurance to cover myself for any claims or damages that may result from any injury, illness, death or property damage I suffer while volunteering with BGEA.

Assumption of Risk/Release: I understand that while volunteering for BGEA, I may engage in activities involving risk of illness, injury, property damage, or even death, resulting from activities. I hereby assume all risks associated with my performance of these activities and release and forever discharge BGEA from any and all liability, including for negligent acts or omissions, for claims or damages I might have that result from my activities with BGEA as a volunteer, and any related claims or damages arising from BGEA’s selection of activities or provision of food or transportation in connection with volunteering with BGEA. I understand that BGEA is not responsible for the safety or security of my personal effects and release BGEA from liability for theft, damage or destruction of my personal property.

Consent: I consent to BGEA keeping my personal details and contact information, both in the U.S.A. and in my country (if other than the U.S.A.) and to communicate with me about my participation and future ministry updates and opportunities from time to time. I know I can access BGEA’s Privacy Policy at BillyGraham.org/Privacy. I also know that, if I later have a concern about how my image or recordings may be/is/are used, I can contact BGEA and request a change, but I also realize that anything already released would be difficult or impossible to withdraw from circulation.

I understand, accept, and agree to the terms and conditions stated in this Volunteer Agreement and Release. I represent and warrant that I have the full legal authority to execute this Volunteer Agreement and Release and agree to indemnify, defend and hold BGEA harmless against the claims of third parties.
